As a routine there are no garbage fees here, in Houston, however my neighborhood pays for private pickup where it really is private, they come down your driveway to wherever you store the trashcan.

Um- Kraniac? Did you figure out whether this is going to apply for you or not?
For others-- municipal garbage pickup is part of property tax assessment in Chicago- unless your building is over 4 units in which case you have to arrange commercial/private pickup.

It does apply..we've been grandfathered forever..i talked to the Ward super and he said this was gonna be a complete shitshow..which I can already see..the problems with all the new condos and their lot line to lot line garages are multifold as far as garbage wars go..this gonna kick it over the top. should be interesting but we're gonna go with a lock on the container, for sure..
