Wisconsin's butter crackdown: Fans of Irish Kerrygold are forced to leave the state to get their hands on banned dairy product
A state law instituted in 1970 prohibits anything other than Grade A milk products from being distributed in Wisconsin.
Because Kerrygold is made from grass-fed cow's milk in Ireland, it isn't graded by the USDA - leaving loyal fans in Wisconsin out in the cold.
My wife loves this stuff-we always have it in stock at our house! Saw the story on the news this morning and looked up why it isn't sold in Wisconsin. Law may be changed to allow it as apparently a lot of folks are driving to adjacent states to buy it.
