Brother MFC-L3750CDW no duplex scanning
#21
You were close, it looks like you really wanted the Brother MFC-L3770CDW.....

$500, or less, depending on available discount codes.
But they do look alike.
Brother makes a lot models of each platform, so ya gotta read the specs closely to make sure you get the right one.....
When we got our 2007 Bro MFC, the Costco model had the duplex scanning, whereas their mainstream models didn't sprout duplex scanning for another year, or so.

buzz,

Same thing with HP models. Great example. the HP Officejet Pro 9015 and 9018 offer duplex scanning. However, it is multi-pass duplex scanning. The Officejet Pro 9025 - the top of the line version of the 9xxxx series Officejet Pro models - has single-pass duplex scanning.

I bought the 9025 as a replacement for an Officejet Pro 8620 whose print head was ruined by 3rd party ink. I do enough scanning that I felt it was worth the bucks for a machine that could do single-pass duplex scanning. It is a game changer. So much so that I invested in Fujitsu ix1500 at home to use in conjunction with my Officejet Pro 8600. Eventually, I bought an ix1600 for my office.

Rest assured, if I need to replace the Officejet Pro 8600 I have at home, it will be with another all-in-one and that machine will absolutely have single-pass duplex scanning. The feature is that worthwhile!

I think buzz is correct about the model that I should have purchased (L3770CDW). When I ordered my printer a lot of the model numbers weren’t available. I can’t say that this one was unavailable at that time but I do wish I had bought it instead!

Prices on Amazon are all over the place. Lots of refurbished models. Some seem to require a subscription to replenish supplies.

"Prices on Amazon are all over the place."

When I got the MFC-L5850DW, I ended up buying it from Office Depot/Max because I was able to stack a promo coupon code on top of their sale of the week price. For those medium to large Brother printers, keep an eye on all the big boxers + promo codes, as that's often where the best deal can be found.

As noted, the manufacturers play model number + feature creeper roulette. Brother made the identical B&W MFC unit that I got at Costco in 2007, as a different model number, a short time later. The "good"(?) thing is, I haven't found that they reuse model numbers, but they add'l private label models, and changing main line model numbers can sure be confusing. Not good.

Once again I think buzz has the answer. I should have bought from brick and mortar or at least tried. My box is long gone and my return window has closed anyway. I'll just have to live with it.
