Uh, I'm not young and I did watch plenty of episodes and gave up on it.

Saying it's one of the best animated shows on teevee doesn't mean much because there aren't that many animated series. I don't think I'd even put it in the top ten. The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Sealab 2021, South Park, Beavis & Butthead, Dr. Katz, Underdog, Batman Beyond, Bullwinkle, and Family Guy are all better. No particular order there.
Compare it to teevee in general, Futurama is even less compelling. Bender is great, but the rest of the characters can kiss his shiny metal ass.

Everybody I know (including me) wrote this show off, even after multiple tries. "Simpsons Science Theatre 3000" I called it.
Then I watched it again more carefully. So did even my die-hard "don't like it" friends. Now the Simpsons is known around here as "Retrorama."

Of all of those that you listed, none are in my top ten. Bullwinkle is the only one in my top 20.

I'd put Futurama above Sealab 2021, Beavis & Butthead, Dr. Katz, Underdog, Batman Beyond, Bullwinkle, and Family Guy.

So then what would be in your top ten, MacMagus? I had a hard time coming up with my list; I can't imagine having twenty. But at least my ten are all shows I would actually watch from start to finish, which is more than I can say for Futurama.

Well, this is not to be taken as a definitive list, but a rough one... 1. Warner Bros. 1930's thru the early 1940's. 2. Warner Bros. Post-Tex-Avery thru 1964. 3. Tom & Jerry (Theatrical Releases) 4. Popeye (Fleischer Studios. NOT Paramount) 5. Walter Lantz (Woody Woodpecker, etc.) 1940's thru 1960's. 6. Futurama 7. Ren & Stimpy (John K. Episodes) 8. Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines 9. Science Ninja Team Gatchaman [Battle of the Planets] (Both the U.S. Edits and Japanese Originals are tied) 10. Pinky and the Brain (Stand-Alone Series and Animaniacs Shorts)

i'd have Duckman on my top 10 list. Rocko's Modern Life in the top 25. King of the Hill always gets laughs from me. Spider-Man from the 60s (Bakshi) made an impression, too.

Duckman and Rocko are both in my top 25.
I was thinking recenltly how sad it is that Dangermouse has not withstood the test of time. I'd say that it has slipped into the top 40. And FLCL only had 6 episodes, but I've grown fonder of it so it's crep't up into my top 25.

I rented the first Danger Mouse DVD and was really disappointed that it failed the Test of Time.
I really enjoy Futurama and have the first season's DVDs. I'll add more. |
