Priority Mail Tracking enough?

I personally don't worry about insurance or tracking on most things. $2 to insure an $80 item is too much....2.5% of the value. USPS loses WAY fewer packages than that statistically. And anecdotally I've never had anything lost or damaged by them.

I use USPS because the PO is convenient for me and UPS or FedEx dropoff is not. If those carriers are out of your way, then you add to the $2 your time and gas cost, etc, for a minimal chance for a problem with a replaceable item.

Priority Mail tracking is a joke

Impossible. There is no such thing. People who say there is are just making it up.

The *only* tracking offered is with Express Mail. Sometimes my DC mail gets additional scans, but that's not a given.

Delivery Confirmation is free *if* you use an electronic compatible label. I use Swordfish Express to generate labels. The PO adds the postage, and the package is scanned into their system. If I drop it off at the back dock, it doesn't get scanned; it's not required.

actually, the Swordfish Express software that prepares the label for you, still works. at least it did when i used it last week. saved me about 75 cents on delivery confirmation.

couldn't we still email our friends the freeware or is it registered somehow? btw, i used Endica for a brief while of heavy ebaying. it's a very neat service if the monthly fee is worth your while.

You can print click 'n ship labels from the USPS site. But as of May 12 you have to pay for postage when you print the label (used to be able to just print the label w/o postage).
