I feel better now. - We're On A Mission From God

[quote SteveO]Church -- State -- I seem to remember something about those are separate. Something up there, ak, cobwebs!
So you are saying that speaking at a church and asking those present to join in prayer is the same as establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof (which, by the way, is all the Constitution has to say about "separation of church and state")?

What if a candidate asks God to make him an instrument of [God's] will?

Did you read the specific quotes? Scary stuff.

All of the candidates are mixed up with some goofy churches and pastors.

I wish they would all keep their religion personal.

Obama, gets a free pass on this, with some, because he denounced Wright.

Which stuff do you think is scary? I find some of it silly, and a lot of it wrong, even from a biblical point of view, but I don't actually find it that scary. kj.

It gets scary when I consider that this person would love to legislate my beliefs out of existence, and may get the chance to do so.
You don't find the assertion that God ordered the war on Iraq to be frightening?

"God told me to initiate global nuclear destruction to bring about Armageddon and the second coming of Christ"

I find it silly. Until I realize that they actually believe in this crap. Then I find it more on the scary side.

My brother in law does actually believe that stuff. They are really hopeful that things will seriously blow up in the Middle East so they can float up to heaven. There are a lot more like him out there, too. But he's also a Promise Keeper, which makes me wonder how he's rationalizing the whole woman in a power position thing.

Considering that this would take a Constitutional amendment, which, if I recall correctly, requires a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress, and then must be ratified by 3/4 of the States, perhaps you could elaborate on the process you envision that would end up legislating your beliefs out of existence?

After that, please reconcile your statement with the fact that neither the President nor Vice-President has any formal say in the amendment process.
