I've been buying my milk in plastic containers and I'm considering a change. I've read about food contacting plastic and causing a health problem. I don't have the option of buying in glass so I'm wondering if I should switch to cardboard/wax boxes? Any problems with those? Are there hormone issues in milk? I'm trying to make some changes.

Cow's milk wasn't meant for human consumption anyway and isn't all that healthy.
But it does go well with an Oreo

We much prefer the cardboard containers. I don't know which may be "healthier", but in our experience the plastic containers seem to shorten the shelf life of the milk itself.

there was also something a while back about off-gassing of HDPE (plasticizer ?), but IIRC that was at least partly to blame of adding a vitamin fortifying compound to milk. The two interacted.
