Hooray - Help for Homeowners is on the way!
Bottom line is you either "want" to help or you "don't."

You're all intelligent enough to know that there is no way in hell to surgically determine who is gaming the system versus those that have suffered an unfortunate set of circumstances. That means arguing about it is b.s. If some gamers are enriched by the process, that's what's going to happen. Worrying about it is petty when you consider how desperate so many folks' situations are.

If you don't want to help, just be honest about it and say so. Don't couch it with all of the qualifiers.

That's not true Vision. Do you want your money taken away to "help" people who have a lot more than you do? If everyone had your attitude, I guarantee the money would be available to those with 2nd or 3rd mortgages in forclosure. At least there are some limits. Are you donating money to Donald Trump? I read he's having a tough time. kj.

kj, first consider that the proposed package in no way is designed to aid those who fall in the categories that you mention, nor am I one to support non-strategic legislation. For example, up to 90 percent in the entire Bay Area would "not" qualify for Obama's $75 billion program. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...1621N4.DTL&hw=75+billion+san+francisco+mortgage&sn=002&sc=482 All that being true. Put the focus on the families that are literally facing the Sheriff knocking on the door and putting them and all of their stuff on the curb. I see it everyday and it makes you sick to your stomach. It would make you sick too.

So this plan is expensive, won't help the majority of people, and I'm selfish for having _any_ reservations about it. You really think I don't care about people? If people need help, fine, but this is a crazy method, and we can't afford it. As I said, I really think this could hurt as many (or more) than it helps. Do you know it won't? I'm not dead sure this won't just go into the pockets of lenders, in the end. kj.
