Huh? The forum was actually more cohesive after 9/11
I don't agree, unless you mean quite some time after September 11. But the attacks brought out the very worst in some people, and I don't remember the forum as a whole becoming more cohesive.
And then there was the segmenting of the forum into categories...
Also, are you saying Charlie was someone who surprised/disappointed you with what was underneath the facade?
Ah, my comment was poorly phrased. Charlie was definitely not one of the addle-pated, abberated denizens. He is one of a few that I enjoyed reading that never crossed over, as near as I could tell. And I believe he was one of the few without a facade. Teela Brown, PunchingPhilSchiller'sNuts... I remember him making the announcement of his name change, but I forgot his former nom de plume.

Anybody remember the Outpost TV commercials? Especially the Stunt Hamsters? And the letter from the Outpost Pres/CEO/Whatever? Tech related commercials rivaled only by the early Yahoo! commercials.
I got my first trackball (for my LC), a Kensington TurboMouse 4.0, from Cyberian. They and MacConnection had next day delivery for anything you bought. Tres cool.
