Recently Sigma's higher end lenses have been matching and in some cases outperforming Canon and Nikon equivalents. Now Sigma is upping their reputation by outperforming higher end brands? Not a scientific test but I wouldn't be surprised it Sigma's latest lenses outperform Leica. My Sigma 85mm 1.4 is the sharpest lens I have ever owned.

those images certainly back up his claim although i not sure if i see the point of comparing lenses with two different max apertures at wide open.

if people are shooting wide open, why not? usually, a lens that is brighter is also less sharp wide open as an equivalent focal length lens that is slower.

Isn't this sorta like saying 2013 Toyota outperforms 1977 Corvette? The first of 35/2 Summicron-R lenses were introduced in 1970, and was surpassed by the 35/1.4 Summilux-R of 1984...
Google "Putz column 28-35 mm Leica R" for more info.
