Blame steve jobs - the 2006-2008 black macbook cost $100 more than the white one. Black is 'cool', silver is not.

Not sure what's silver about it (the edges, I guess) The top surface is white.

I thought the darker model reflected the 'Pro' monicker.

It actually only cost $50 more.

I bought one. It got the larger HD option, and when compared to the white MB with that option, it was only $50 more, so I went for it, happily.

White??

Maybe he's confusing the TrackPad with an Apple Card.

Hint: The Apple Card will fit in one's wallet, the TrackPad won't.

The Apple Card may stain, the TrackPad won't.

All my MTP's have a silver surface.

I think he's talking about the only currently shipping standalone trackpad, the Magic Trackpad 2. White surface as opposed the the gen 1 silver. White isn't $20 cheaper; black is $20 more. I guess the white matches the keys in most Apple standalone keyboards, but it does look out of place next to today's iMac and Macbooks. I can see why some people miss the silver surface.
