Aunt Jemima gets its new name
#1
Pepsico announced the new name of its Aunt Jemima syrup and pancake line.

The renaming was done following acknowledgment that the former name had racist origins.

I would have to admit that I don't understand the need to rebrand. For me the change just makes it more difficult to buy the brand that I enjoy. I recognize that my (white) opinion might not be relevant though. I did find a little article from the family of "Aunt Jemima" that was interesting. https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2020/06/...ts-rebrand

Never knew that syrup was milled, and more specifically milled from pearls.

:barf:

Corn syrup with caramel coloring and artificial maple flavoring doesn't compare to the genuine maple syrup that I use.

The whole concept offends me.

"Syrup."

INGREDIENTS: CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WATER, CELLULOSE GUM, CARAMEL COLOR, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR ...

Blech.

Yep. Auntie's Refining & Chemical Works seems more fitting

It tastes fine you sophisticated gents.

I would have kept it the same. Now it's one less Black woman representing the brand. I would have kept the brand and named a Black woman as the Quaker Oats CEO. I mean, if you're gonna use your leverage to make a change. Make one that counts.
