It has both touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard which give it an advantage over the iPhone.

That thing looks exceedingly sweet.

Unfortunately, the announced version doesn't have HSDPA broadband on any frequencies used in the US.

They would have to make a different US version.

The iPhone has a qwerty keyboard as well, and it doesn't waste physical space by serving only one function.

That keyboard doesn't waste space since it slides out. That phone looks niiiiice!

Slide-out keyboard = thick as a brick. It's about 5mm thicker than the iPhone.

Hmm, I wonder what OS it's running. Definitely not Windows Mobile, at least. It actually looks like a fairly well thought-out UI from the product shots: maybe a Linux variant. I'm slightly intrigued, though I have been very unimpressed with the quality of Samsung phones lately.

Speaking of iPhone, I highly recommend the series of cell phone/mobile platform analyses posted on RoughlyDrafted.com. I think they very clearly lay out where Windows Mobile, Palm OS, and Symbian went wrong and show that iPhone and OS X really do have a big opportunity to make some serious noise in the smartphone market. They also have very instructive price comparisons between the iPhone, LG Prada, and SonyEricsson P990. Spoiler: the iPhone has significantly better features and costs less.
