It used to be customary in the early days of baseball for players to drink heavily before the games.
I'm sure you've heard the stories about Babe Ruth. He used to go drinking with a lesser know pitcher by the name of Mel Famey. Mel like to have a few snorts in the bullpen during the warm up. Mel was a pretty good pitcher when he was sober, but not as good when a little snockered. Once Mel had a really bad game (they lost) where he couldn't get anything across the plate and managed to let the opposing team walk in more runs then they hit. At the end of the game he was walking off the field and pulled a beer bottle out of his back pocket. When the opposing teams manager saw it he couldn't believe his eyes. He turned to his assistant and said "what the hell is that?" His assistant said ....... "That's the beer that made Mel Famey walk us" : -) Three Floyds Alpha King Ale here tonight.

It would also flush your job, your friendships, your driver's license⦠Just who ARE those people who operate best with a mild buzz? They are as common as Bigfoot. However, specimens who imagine that they operate best with a mild buzz are very common.
