I think the best government is a balanced government, with control of the executive and legislative branches in different parties, and the judicial branch neutral. However, the Republicans blew any chance of that by swinging so far to the right it became ridiculous even to our moderate-to-right populace. The people of the United States have voted to let the pendulum swing back toward the center. I don't expect the Republicans to let it happen gracefully, but I wish they would.

I think the biggest thing missing from government is elected officials that believe that government can work. those who don't are just lowering expectations for themselves.

I think those who are more pragmatic than ideological are generally better at governance than those who are more ideological than pragmatic. For the last 8 years we've had too much of the latter and not enough of the former. Hopefully, during the next several years we'll see more pragmatism and less ideology. I think there is a very good chance we will.
