my dogs coat is very dull and dry. the olive oil was sitting on the kitchen counter when i was putting his food bowl together and i decided to add a little to his food. olive oil is good for humans. is it good for dogs? will it help his coat?
he ate all his food, btw. he also likes broccoli. maybe i should have made him a salad.

should be fine. Salmon oil is a common spritz for cat and dog food FWIW. I used it for years for my 2 cats. Did wonders for their skin and coats. They actually felt like mink fur coats, and Ozzie's dandruff was cut by about 2/3rds.

Animal fat like bacon grease would be better - but olive oil is fine.

Honestly, I thought this thread was going to be about frying hot dogs in olive oil.

If you feed dry food (kibble), it's a good idea to supplement with omega3 and 6. I use fish oil from costco.

We have been adding a tea spoon of olive oil to our male terrier mutt's food for the 5 years we have him. His coat and skin looks fabulous! Olive oil is still oil so don't use too much or your pup will have love handle. Occasionally we would also spike their food with fish oil.
