New bed makes me more sleepy?

[quote simonm]Hmmm ....
"bags under the eyes ..."

1. I have no idea what a pillow top is - never heard of one. I assume it means what it sounds like.
2. What it sounds to me like is that you may have either a mild allergy to the filling in the "pillow top" or that your eyes are being mildly irritated by dust. Both conditions would be more likely to result from feather or down fillng than with a hollow-fill.
3. Are you sneezing or coughing more than previously for no obvious reason?

Check what it is made of.

Regards.
A PillowTop is literally that, a mattress top made soft likie a pillow.
A body sinks in and literally can't move.
Some folks sleep like a corpse and never move, but if you're not that type of folk the PT's will cause nothing but pain.
Nothing to do with allergies.

I had a similar experience with a down matress pad.

Costco had great prices, and we wanted to sleep extra-well, so we bought down pillows, a down comforter, and a thick mattress pad. Was it comfy? Oh, yes. My head sank into the pillow and it was like...I don't know...being hugged by an angel? (or hugged by a duck)

Anyway, I found myself waking up sore and tired. My best guess is that the bed was so comfortable I wasn't moving during the night. I'd go to sleep laying one way and wake up in exactly the same position. My spouse had the same problem. After a few nights, we removed the pad. Woke up feeling better the next day.

I still remember it fondly, but evidently it is possible to have a bed that's TOO comfortable.

I'll also second the reports about mattress firmness. Some people need more cushiness, some less, and you won't sleep well on the wrong style.
