Same here. I was considering dropping AOL when the cheapie plan went up to $6.95, but for Free, all is well again.

[quote M A V I C][quote Seacrest]I think AOL now uses the MSIE rendering engine on Windows, so I do not believe it is worth testing pages in or developing pages to.
They have for a while, but they tweak it a bit so it's not exact. Some things just don't work the same. And that's just for Windows... for Macs it's a much different beast.
That's the main reason I have AOL. The other is a screename I've used for over a decade and don't feel like losing it for AIM.
I haven't had to worry about AOL clients since 2001 so I am really out of the loop with AOL browser issues but I figured they probably hadn't all gone away. Thanks to you both for the info.

Used to be, a decade ago, a great way to meet women. Seriously.
See a profile you liked--- when they were online, talk to them, and in a day, you were on a date.
Too bad they do that Match.com for $$$ stuff now.

Just passed this on to a co-worker. After 15 mins on the phone AOL said they could not offer him this deal. Co-worker said "OK, then cancel me." Five minutes later they offered him the freebie. Co-worker thanks you.

my wife doesn't even use the computer, let alone AOL.
if AOL comes to a point where you don't have to use a mouse or keyboard, just speak to the computer, THEN maybe she'll try it.
it won't be installed on my Mac, i'll tell you that much!

It's not installed on any of our Macs either--Apple mail gets my wife's email for her. Done. Free.

You don't need to install AOL to use their web mail. Their web mail is actually pretty nice. But I, too, have it pulled down to me via Apple's Mail app.
